How did your time at UCO impact your career?
It gave me the skills I needed to get my foot in the door.

What was the most valuable lesson you learned in college?
To open my eyes and ears to learn.   Be like a sponge.

How does your education impact you on a daily basis?
I use management styles I studied in college.  I use accounting skills I learned in college.  I use people skills I learned in college.

I loved UCO(then CSU) for its small class sizes without compromising the quality of education.  The friends I made at school are still my close friends today.  I am proud of my school and the growth that has taken place since I have been gone.  It is good to see a school willing to “think outside of the box” and grow.  It is a school to be proud of.  The educators in the college of business were top notch and truly seemed to care about the students and their success.  I appreciate that so much.  I hope I can carry those traits and pay them forward in my day-to-day dealings.

Randy Stafford

College of Business graduate 1987, Business Administration

Randy is the senior vice president of Coppermark Bank in Edmond, Okla.

Favorite class: Marketing

How did your time at UCO impact your career?

Obtaining a degree was the first step to achieving my career goals.

What was the most valuable lesson you learned in college?

You get out what you put into things.

How does your education impact you on a daily basis?

My education enables me to interact with people who are educated.  The planning and preparation I learned in college carries over to planning and organizing daily duties in my career.

Toni Weinmeister

College of Business graduate 2003, Marketing

Toni is associate director of the Edmond Economic Development Authority in Edmond, Okla.

Favorite class: Marketing In Action in Dallas

Favorite Prof: Dr. John Camey but Dr. Wert-Gray is a very close second!

How did your time at UCO impact your career?

I learned from real people who were at one time in the business world themselves.  They taught from experience which was so valuable.  The leadership opportunities on campus were endless and definitely prepared me for my career and leadership roles in the community.

What was the most valuable lesson you learned in college?

Take it one day at a time.  I was very busy in college.  I worked my way through school and was very involved on campus so juggling all of my responsibilities as a student was overwhelming at times.  I learned to just breath and take everything one step at a time while still focusing on the big picture.  I’m grateful that I gained time management skills in college rather than learning the hard way in my career.

How does your education impact you on a daily basis?

The business knowledge and especially marketing knowledge that I obtained from my UCO education have immensely impacted me during my career.  It is my job to promote Edmond every day.  My two main goals are to assist existing Edmond businesses and recruit new ones.  I work to achieve these goals through branding, cutting edge marketing materials, e-marketing, company promotions and several other services and resources offered through the EEDA.
