Estimated
Costs
Costs for this trip are divided into five segments:
|
Deposit |
Your deposit of $100 is due by 2/1 in order to secure a seat in the
classroom. This deposit is the equivalent of a lab fee for the
course and should be made payable to UCO and delivered to my office. |
|
Tuition |
This is handled the same way as it is for all other classes at UCO and
varies depending on your status as a graduate or undergraduate
student. This is payable to the Bursar and should be handled
directly with them. |
|
Airfare |
This is subject to the usual fluctuations of air fare and is
solidified only when you have purchased your ticket. As of 2/17
the round trip fare from DFW to Beijing and from Hong Kong back to DFW
was $827. If you can find a cheaper ticket or want to arrive
earlier or slightly later, you can choose a different flight and meet
us at the hotel. You will pay your travel agent/airline directly
for this portion of the class. |
|
Ground transportation, lodging, meals |
The tour has been arranged by Gray Line and their fee is $850 per
person. This price is based on double occupancy with 10 people
in our group. If you want to have a single occupancy room, then
you will need to pay an additional $250. If our trip does not
have 10 people there will be an additional charge. You will pay
Gray Line directly for this portion of your expenses. |
|
Incidentals |
Souvenirs, snacks, additional meals, drinks, tips, and anything else
is your responsibility. |
|
Totals
|
$1820 + tuition + souvenirs |
Student Responsibilities
| Attend all
pre-trip meetings, tour every plant & facility with the group, and write a
paper on an instructor-approved topic. I anticipate 2 or 3 pre-trip meetings
of varying length that will be devoted to syllabus and schedule, general
Q&A, background on the industries we will see, etc. |
 |
 |
BE ON TIME!!! |
 |
| Be flexible (except about temporal matters) |
 |
|

|
You'll need to review and sign our
appropriate conduct pledge that is included in the syllabus before you
receive a permission slip. |
