Undergraduate Student Information

UNIVERSITY GUIDELINES

Students must:

1. have successfully completed designated prerequisites, including prerequisite GPA's (consistent with graduation requirements), prior to beginning the internship.

2. be in good academic standing (not on academic probation or suspension).

3. enroll and pay all fees.

4. not have an internship for credit with their current employer.

5. not be granted internship credit retroactively, e.g., for experience already completed.


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Minimum qualifications required of undergraduate students to serve a credit-bearing internship are:

1. Junior class standing;

2. Grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 overall or 2.75 in the major;

3. Completion of six (6) credit hours in the business discipline that is granting the credit; (Students interested in a Finance internship must have completed 12 hours of Finance credit, including FIN 3563).

4. Have not completed the maximum number of internship hours allowed;

(Baccalaureate degree seeking Accounting majors are limited to 3 hours of internship credit, Information Systems and Operations Management majors are limited to 3 hours, Economics majors are limited to 4 hours. All other majors are limited to 6 hours of internship credit in their undergraduate career.)

5. International students who do not have a work permit issued by the Federal Government may only participate in internships that offer credit;

6. Must be a College of Business major.

Additional qualifications may be required by the credit-granting Department.

STUDENT'S ROLE

Students are expected to approach internships in a professional manner and be productive in their efforts.

Students are expected to act as good-will ambassadors for the University in their involvement with the business community.

Undergraduate students will work 60 hours for each hour of college credit.
