OMA - Tinker AFB
Education and Training Partnership

Tinker AFB, Oklahoma City Air Logistic Center (OC-ALC), expects a large number of civilian job vacancies in management and administration in the coming five years. A large percentage of these vacancies is in the field of Operations Management and Analysis. UCO and the Department of Information Systems and Operations Management (ISOM) worked with Tinker OC-ALC to design a "Plan of Study" to help future UCO graduates in Operations Management meet the requirements and standards of Tinker OC-ALC. This Plan of Study, which results in a Business Degree in Operations Management and Analysis from UCO, is titled "Program Management".

More than seventy of our graduates have already been placed as full-time operations management employees at Tinker OC-ALC in the past five years. All of them graduated by following this Plan of Study.

A student interested in employment with Tinker will have to declare a major in Operations Management and Analysis (OMA - Code 2101) and enroll in the Program Management Plan of Study. Tinker will periodically interview students enrolled in this plan and offer those who meet their requirements paid internships while completing their course work at UCO. Upon graduation, students who have successfully completed their internship will typically be offered full time employment with fast track non-competitive promotions to grade GS-11. Tinker decides on who to interview and who to offer internships and employment to, and therefore these internships are not guaranteed to every student enrolled in this program.

Students who follow this Program Management Plan of Study will graduate with a Bachelor of Business degree in Operations Management and Analysis. If they were not offered internships while they were in college, graduates from this program can apply for the many other job vacancies that exist with local, national or international employers, including Tinker subcontractors.

This is an excellent opportunity for students who want to combine business academic knowledge with practical paid-internship experience and exciting professional career that provides the benefits of federal employment. Applications for enrollment are taken anytime during the semester.
